Good Food & Craft Market

The Good Food & Craft Market

Flameworks makers will be at this popular monthly market in Plmouth’s iconic Royal William Yard.

Known for showcasing some of the region’s most talented artists and makers, the markets offer everything from tasty treats to handcrafted gifts. The monthly markets have been a staple of Royal William Yard’s event calendar for years, and have even won awards along the way.

Visitors can make a day of it – if not a short stay! The vibrant array of bars and eateries are open for indoor and outdoor visits, stunning Grade II listed Rooms by Bistrot Pierre is welcoming overnight guests again, cultural hub Ocean Studios has a variety of workshops and exhibitions taking place, and there are countless places to explore and things to do throughout Royal William Yard.

Those heading to the markets should note that a new, simple one-way system will be in operation, to help manage the flow of traffic and keep the area safe for all. On entering the Yard under the arch and passing the Gatehouse and Guardhouse, vehicles will be directed to turn left and follow signs for parking. The ‘Main Street’ – running past the green and alongside the marina – will now be a one-way system for exiting traffic.

Spoonfest #2

Saturday 6 April 2024

10:00-16:00

Come join us for the second edition of Spoonfest, a one-of-a-kind event celebrating the art of spoon making! Get ready for a day filled with creativity, fun, and of course, spoons!

Hosted at Flameworks Creative Arts Facility, this in-person event will involve you working with a number of Flameworks’ highly talented studio holders and covering a wide range of disciplines. There will be makers working in metals, ceramics, glass, wood and maybe even fabric to teach you how to create you own spoons. They will help and enable you to realise your wonderful spoons, working throughout Flameworks in both artist’s studios and the communal workshop areas.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced maker, Spoonfest #2 offers something for everyone. Immerse yourself in a vibrant atmosphere where you can learn new carving techniques, combining different materials, and connect with fellow spoon lovers. Our talented makers will guide you through hands-on workshops, sharing their expertise and passion for their craft.

A range of materials will be supplied but we encourage you to bring along materials of your own including wood, driftwood, plastics, binding materials (string, leather, yarn etc) metals, shells, all manner of flotsam and jetsam and found objects...to help customise and personalise your spoons.

There will be prizes awarded for “The Most Beautiful Spoon“ and “The Most Outrageous Spoon”!

Don't miss out on the opportunity to explore a wide range of spoon carving tools, materials, and resources available at the event. From traditional to modern styles, you'll find inspiration to create your own masterpiece.

Join us at Spoonfest #2 and let your creativity flow as you carve your way to spoonfuls of joy!
